He married Margaret Jones on 11 August 1870, in Dodge, Wisconsin, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 7 daughters. He lived in Calamus, Dodge, Wisconsin, United States for about 30 years. He died on 5 January 1918, in Dodge, Wisconsin, United States, at the age of 78, and was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Dodge, Wisconsin, United States.
