We are perplexed at how the whole thing ran down as the story has holes in it. There is no doubt that Francis was the rightful owner of the brewery. Even the sale to J.Leinenkeugel has a story behind it. We plan to visit the family brewery in Siegenburg, Bavaria, Germany. I have an old ledger of his, where he records many business transactions, including with Jacob Leinenkugel. From what I understand he had multiple other business interests in Chippewa Falls area, having emigrated from Germany after leaving the seminary in Regensburg, for which he had been disowned. Rummored to have possibly also had another wife in Germany.<br />The Schmidmayer family has been in the Brewery business since at least 1275. Schmidmayer Brau is still in operation (since 1275) in Siegenburg, Bavaria.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518953907062235005.post-89661454408260782782017-10-13T18:13:54.198-05:002017-10-13T18:13:54.198-05:00According to my family research, the brewery was s...According to my family research, the brewery was started by Benjamin Gebhard. He was the first husband of Amelia and father of Paul. I found an obituary of Paul that states his father started the first brewery in Chippewa Falls on the end of Spring Street. Great article and research! K.B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06133189878500864127noreply@blogger.com
